EARTHQUAKE IN ABRUZZO AND ELECTION CAMPAIGN:
candidates and parties DIMEZZINO The budget allocated to
few days will open up the dances and all the candidates at all levels and of all parties, the European Parliament to the Council District will be active in their legitimate campaign for votes and preferences, unleashing the already seen and reviewed brawl made of posters, leaflets, dinners, holy cards. As at every election we will see in particular the struggle of the posters made of strips of roofing and posters of candidates competing. All legitimate charity. I myself have been in the past, the protagonist of this particular competition in the competition and perhaps it will in the near immediate future, at least until the electoral system will remain the preferences leading to a fierce competition among candidates and above all from the same party. But it is not my intention to open a debate here about the goodness or otherwise of the system of preferences.
The argument I would make to any candidate of any party is whether to use more responsibly budget of his campaign in light of the tragedy of the earthquake that shook all of Italy. The policy can not remain inert before the tragedy of Abruzzo, not even stopping to sterile and empty proclamations and even leave to institutions and volunteers active role in helping the people of Abruzzo. We are all called in these dramatic gestures of responsibility and hours to do, each according to their means, a concrete gesture of help, especially if we want to restore dignity to politics among the population, after many dark years crossed by category.
Print posters costs thousands of euro for each candidate, and by multiplying these figures by the thousands of candidates from all over Italy this translates into an induced million: so why not halve the budget already budgeted for printing of posters and donate the remaining half for the reconstruction of Abruzzo, perhaps with direct donations to charities active in relief operations, reporting such figures in the budget transparently-public-campaign? It would be a beautiful gesture politics that eventually would return to truly serve the people and perhaps many people do not go to the polls for many years because nauseated by certain attitudes could move close to the Italian political class. Can you imagine how many million might come in Abruzzo in Italy if we apply this principle?
for this mechanism to work in full, however, all parties and all candidates of the individual competitions, or at least the majority, they should join this initiative with a serious act of responsibility and a clear pact , public and transparent. Otherwise the sensitivity will stay autoridursi single candidate to decide whether the budgets of their campaign to allocate some funds for reconstruction Abruzzo (personally, if my party should decide to run for it anyway and I'll give you news, because one can not speak good and evil ... scratching). It 'clear that in this case there will be a penalty-perhaps-than the other in the struggle of the communication. But such a gesture well worth taking the risk of not being elected, at least if we believe in politics as a service to the public and in any case, I am sure the voters know how to choose a lot better than i think sometimes politicians, regardless of posters.
